Over the weekend I decided to bust out my cute unicorn shirt! I saw this shirt at Forever 21 and the first time I passed it up. After leaving the store I couldn’t stop thinking about how cute it was. The next day I went back to the mall and bought it immediately! It was too cute to pass up!!

I decided to go full unicorn with this outfit. I looked around for my cutest, most feminine accessories and landed on my pink cat purse and my ice cream bow. I like wearing girly things even if other people don’t get it.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about getting older and this whole idea of acting my age. I dress and act a lot younger than I am. I mean, I have a collection of stuffed animals and little figures all over my room. I’m a 27 year-old who loves unicorns, enjoys toys, and thinks a bow can add the perfect pop of pizzazz to a look. Some people don’t get it and I’ve come to realize that it doesn’t matter. If an outfit or a toy makes me happy then that’s the most important thing. For the first time in a long time I feel like I’ve kind of figured myself out.
As a kid I hated shopping. I felt ugly, fat, and the only thing I wanted to wear was clothing that would hide that. I wore baggy t-shirts and jeans. In middle school I discovered Wet Seal and Abercrombie. Oh the fashion mistakes I made. In high school I became more of a skater/rocker chick and wore mostly black with hot pink accents. In college I wore thrifted t-shirts, jeans, and sweaters. It wasn’t until my study abroad trip that I really got into wearing dresses all the time. Once I decided that was the route I wanted to take I needed to figure out my dress style.
As you can tell, it was a long journey getting to where I am. I’ve tried out a lot of different styles and over the last several years I feel like it’s all come together. I know what makes me happy but, from time to time, I’m open to trying out new things. I know that some people may not get me or might think that I need to act my age but I don’t care. I’m going to do and wear whatever makes me happy.
What makes you happy?
I’ve been trying to wear more skirt and shirt combos do add a bit of versatility to my wardrobe. When thinking about how I wanted to go about it I decided that I wanted to find a skirt that is a little longer. The next hard step was deciding on a color. I looked through my wardrobe at my tops and found that a light purple skirt would compliment the majority so I set off on an online shopping adventure to find one. Let me tell you, finding longer, affordable skirts is hard! After checking every site I usually shop from for clothes I decided to try Amazon. Someone at some point recommended I check there but I was worried about the quality. Well, I found the perfect colored purple skirt and decided to throw caution to the wind and go for it! That skirt is the one I am sharing in today’s post.

I’ve been trying to incorporate t-shirts into my style more and this shirt is the perfect way to do it! I purchased this nomwhal t-shirt from Tasty Peach Studios at Sakura Con and wish I had bought more. Not only is it super-cute but it is comfy and bright.

I hope you are having a wonderful day!! As you know, things have been a whirlwind here and sometimes it is nice to get a little comfy on the weekends. That is why I love this cute “blogging day” shirt!! Its fun to wear my favorite hobby on my sleeve (or on my torso I guess). When I saw this adorable skirt at Goodwill I immediately wanted to rock it with this shirt. Yay!

Happy Tuesday!! Another week, another outfit post! Before we get started I want to say a big THANK YOU for checking out my blog and commenting. Every interaction I have with you really means a lot to me and is very special. You make this whole blogging thing really fun and you all inspire me everyday. So again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
This week my outfit features an adorable scallop top from Lauren Conrad’s Disney’s Minnie Mouse collection. I snagged this top on sale and was SO excited about it!! I had seen her collection at Kohl’s before and swooned over all of the amazing pieces but just couldn’t justify the expense. That is why when I saw it on sale I basically screamed with glee. When it fit I did a little jig in the dressing room. Yay!!
The top alone has so much character that I decided to pair it with a simple, plain black skirt. I wanted to make sure that the adorable collar really popped!
The cute little polkadots combined with the scallop detail really adds a lot of character. I want to go to Disney just to rock this top around the park. How cool would that be?!
Did you see this collection at Kohl’s? I think they no longer carry it but I’d love to hear your thoughts about it!!
