My Handmade Hello Kitty Skirt

Hi Lovely!

I recently did a thing!! I made my very own Hello Kitty skirt using a sheet I found at Goodwill! I’ve been wanting to learn how to sew and knew this sheet would be a great first attempt at making apparel. And, it was! It was easy to make and I think it turned out pretty well! I plan on making either another skirt or a dress next.

♥ Purse | JuJuBe ♥ Earrings | Handmade out of Kidrobot keychains ♥

So, here’s how I made this skirt. I cut the length I wanted (leaving the bottom hem as it was originally), sewed the two sides together, and then folded down the top and sewed it, creating an opening for an elastic waistband to be inserted. After I inserted the elastic band, I sewed the two open side seams together.

If you were to look super-close you might see that the lines aren’t exactly all straight. Since this is my first-ever apparel item, I think I did very well and I’m excited to make more.

Do you like to sew? Do you have any tips or easy-to-follow patterns? Let me know!
