Bantam Businesses | Mimibun

Hi Lovely!

I’m so excited to introduce you to this month’s Bantam Business, Mimibun, and the owner Mimi! This shop sells the cutest, most delicious looking products ever! I somehow happened upon Mimi’s shop on Instagram and immediately fell in love with her cute food-themed items and her fun illustrations. She is so incredibly talented and I was so happy when she agreed to be featured here on The Cutie Life. I’ve met so many amazing people via Instagram and I am glad I get to share some of their work with you!! Okay, enough of the small talk.  Let’s meet the shop owner!

Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself?
A: I’m a 33 year old graphic designer and crafty mom with a passion for creating cute accessories & shoes. I’ve been selling my creations online since I was in my early twenties and had a brand called Evil Cuppycake. I’ve always been inspired by everything cute, sweet and sometimes creepy. 🙂

Q: Your shoes are adorable! What inspired you to make such delicious looking pieces?
A: Thank you!! The first pair of dessert themed shoes I made was for a Vanellope Von Shweetz (Wreck it Ralph) costume. I got so many compliments and people were asking where I got them that I decided to start selling them in my Etsy shop. I’m coming up with some new designs soon so I’m really excited for everyone to see them!

Q: I love your Tina Belcher paintings. Is she your favorite character on Bob’s Burgers?
A: She is! I can relate to Tina Belcher on so many levels. Tina’s a daydreamer, and most of her dreams involve kissing boys. Or being around boys. Or dancing with boys, and getting to look at their butts later. I admire confident women who aren’t afraid to get what they want, even if it’s a lengthy (and possibly heartbreaking) process.

Q: When not painting and making scrumptious shoes, how do you spend your time?
A: I love going to Disney with my son, checking out local art shows and visiting museums. I also enjoy binge watching Forensic Files and documentaries about serial killers. Is that weird? Hehe.

Q: Where do you draw inspiration from when making your illustrations and paintings?
A: I’m inspired daily by all the awesome artists I follow! Some of my favorites are Bei Badgirl, Michelle Romo, Junko Mizuno, 100 Soft, Jerrod Maruyama… the list could go on forever.

Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A: I really want to go to Japan and California!

Q: I know you enjoy Disney, what is your favorite Disney character?
A: That’s a tough question. I love Ariel! She has the best hair plus she’s a mermaid! My favorite Disney movie would have to be Nightmare Before Christmas though, I love Jack and Sally. I have watched it a million times and know all the songs by heart. <3

Q: If you had to choose between wearing all ice cream themed items or wearing all cupcake themed items for the rest of your life, which would you choose and why?
A: Ice cream themed! I’m dying to get this Kate Spade purse that looks like a little ice cream truck, it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. 🙂

How cute are her products?!?! I know right now you are probably licking your lips over her stuff. I sure am!!! Mimi is such a sweetie for taking the time to chat with me. I love learning about small business owners and introducing them with you!!
