Hello Lovely!
Today I am introducing you to the spectacular and amazingly talented owner behind The Pink Samurai, Becky!! Becky’s designs are SUPER cute and perfect to bring a little adorableness to any space. Her shop includes cat jewelry, adorable buttons, and cat prints you will meow over.
I met Becky at Texas Style Council through my friend Mallory. Mallory knew about my geeky interests and knew I would love Becky. She was right. I instantly connected with Becky over the amazing unicorn brooch she wore, which I bought later (see it here). Becky is sweet, adorable, fun, and extremely talented. Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself?
A: I’m a born and raised Texan who just moved to Austin after living on the East Coast for 15 years. I’m married to my best friend, the talented Andy Helms, we live with our three cats and are expecting our first child this fall! Japanese kawaii culture has been an obsession of mine since I was little and I love to surround myself with as much pink, glitter and cute stuff as possible!
Q: How did you get started with your business?
A: When I was kid, my mom and I were always making stuff. My grandmothers taught me how to sew and I started out making things for myself and friends. When I first opened my shop, I actually sold purses that I designed and sewed myself. The shop then continued to grow and change as I did. After landing on graphic design and illustration as my focus, I got a button machine, went back to college for Graphic Design and the rest is history!
Q: What has been most rewarding about owning your business?
A: The most rewarding thing will always be the looks on peoples faces when they really dig my artwork. That light in their eyes and giggle as they look through my designs will never get old. Plus I love when people have the same sense of humor as me. It’s like finding your tribe when someone else appreciates a cat popping out of a donut.
Q: What is your favorite part of making your products?
A: I always start by making something that I know I would love and wear. The goal when I’m coming up with new ideas or products is that they have to make me smile or exclaim “CUTE!”. I’ve got sketchbooks full of silly drawings and always have a notebook on me just in case inspiration strikes.
Q: When not making adorable buttons, prints, jewelry and more, how do you spend your time?
A: I mean, I spend a lot of time on Instagram 😛 I just love hanging out with Andy and our cats, watching lots of Netflix and playing video games. I’ve also got a wonderful group of maker friends here in Austin and we love meet up, talk shop and eat lots of Torchy’s Tacos.
Q: What is your favorite dessert?
A: Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, for sure! I’m heart broken over the Blue Bell’s closing this summer! It’s literally the best mint chocolate chip ice cream on the planet.

Hello Lovelies!
I am starting a new monthly feature here on Cutie Cameras! I know, so many new things!! First let me tell you that I LOVE supporting small businesses. It makes the items I buy so much more special.
With that said, I am going to start sharing some of my favorite small businesses. Some will be Etsy owners and some will be shops that have online stores. All will be awesome!! I call this feature Bantam Businesses because Bantam is defined as: a person of diminutive stature and often combative disposition. To me that means they are small but mighty, just like these amazing small businesses.
If you know of any super cool shops that I should feature, let me know! OR, if you have your own small business, let me know so I can share it! Shoot me an email cutiecameras{at}gmail.com.
Get ready to learn about some amazing shops and the wonderful people that run them!! The first feature starts next week!
Hello Lovelies,
Today my outfit features a dress that sat in my closet for far too long. The poor thing barely saw the light of day. It was a true travesty. That is why I decided to dust the adorable thing off and bring it back into the world!
I paired it with some light grey tights, brown booties, and my pastel purse from asos for a little pop. The weather is continuously heating up so the light colors match the changing season.
I love wearing this dress to work because it is a nice, lightweight fabric which helps me control my temperature throughout the work day.
Do you have any clothes that you recently rediscovered?
Dress: Etsy like 3 years ago
Cardigan: thrifted but originally from H&M
Shoes: Marshall
Purse: asos
