Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself?
A: Hello! My name is Emma. I am from New Jersey and live with my brew master/environmental scientist hubby and fur babies (Pug: Barium- Barry / Bulldog: Magnesium- Maggie / Kitty: Arsenic- Arnold.) By day I currently teach high school Biology, but am looking to move into a more creative field. By night I write my personal blog: and run my Etsy store: InTheLeopardCloset.
Q: How did you get started with your business?
A: I got started selling vintage clothing in my Etsy store: InTheLeopardCloset last May when I really realized 3 things:
 1. I have way too much clothing.
 2. I love to shop and continue to thrift.
 3. I wanted to share my finds with others to help them find special items for their wardrobes.
I have really realized that it is my true dream to one day own a brick and mortar vintage store where I can curate collections, work with smaller local makers, and really share my finds with the world! I am currently working towards that goal!
Q: What has been most rewarding about owning your business?
A: The most rewarding aspect of owning my own business is when my curated items find their new homes. I love to see what state/country the items are going to.
Q: What is your favorite part of selecting your products?
A: My favorite part of selecting items is to find those interesting pieces from the thrift store. You really never know what you are going to find. I read an interview with Macklemore about his song “Thrift Store” and he said something along the lines of, “Sometimes you go thrifting for a winter coat and come out with a kitchen table.” That summarizes the thrill/randomness you can find at a thrift store.
Q: When not finding adorable vintage clothing, how do you spend your time?
A: When I am not searching for vintage, I enjoy blogging, playing with my fur babies, eating sushi, and exploring local restaurants and breweries with my hubby.
Q: What is your favorite dessert?
A: My favorite dessert is haagen dazs coffee ice cream. I love lots of desserts and firmly believe it can and should be eaten before dinner =)

Bantam Businesses: The Pink Samurai

Hello Lovely!

Today I am introducing you to the spectacular and amazingly talented owner behind The Pink Samurai, Becky!! Becky’s designs are SUPER cute and perfect to bring a little adorableness to any space. Her shop includes cat jewelry, adorable buttons, and cat prints you will meow over.

I met Becky at Texas Style Council through my friend Mallory. Mallory knew about my geeky interests and knew I would love Becky. She was right. I instantly connected with Becky over the amazing unicorn brooch she wore, which I bought later (see it here). Becky is sweet, adorable, fun, and extremely talented. Scroll down to learn more about this awesome artist!

Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself?
A: I’m a born and raised Texan who just moved to Austin after living on the East Coast for 15 years.  I’m married to my best friend, the talented Andy Helms, we live with our three cats and are expecting our first child this fall!  Japanese kawaii culture has been an obsession of mine since I was little and I love to surround myself with as much pink, glitter and cute stuff as possible!

Q: How did you get started with your business?
A: When I was kid, my mom and I were always making stuff.  My grandmothers taught me how to sew and I started out making things for myself and friends.  When I first opened my shop, I actually sold purses that I designed and sewed myself.  The shop then continued to grow and change as I did.  After landing on graphic design and illustration as my focus, I got a button machine, went back to college for Graphic Design and the rest is history!

Q: What has been most rewarding about owning your business?
A: The most rewarding thing will always be the looks on peoples faces when they really dig my artwork.  That light in their eyes and giggle as they look through my designs will never get old.  Plus I love when people have the same sense of humor as me.  It’s like finding your tribe when someone else appreciates a cat popping out of a donut.

Q: What is your favorite part of making your products?
A: I always start by making something that I know I would love and wear.  The goal when I’m coming up with new ideas or products is that they have to make me smile or exclaim “CUTE!”.  I’ve got sketchbooks full of silly drawings and always have a notebook on me just in case inspiration strikes.

Q: When not making adorable buttons, prints, jewelry and more, how do you spend your time?
A: I mean, I spend a lot of time on Instagram 😛  I just love hanging out with Andy and our cats, watching lots of Netflix and playing video games.  I’ve also got a wonderful group of maker friends here in Austin and we love meet up, talk shop and eat lots of Torchy’s Tacos.

Q: What is your favorite dessert?
A: Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, for sure!  I’m heart broken over the Blue Bell’s closing this summer!  It’s literally the best mint chocolate chip ice cream on the planet.

Bantam Businesses: FemmeDeBloom

They are small but mighty.

Hello Lovelies!

This is the first of many in a series where I share amazing small businesses. Today I am sharing one of my favorite Etsy stores, FemmeDeBloom. It features adorable Disney themed jewelry, cute little collar clips, and so much more!! I first discovered the store when I interacted with the owner, Melanie, on Instagram. Melanie is absolutely wonderful and I’ve loved getting to know her. She is extremely talented and I adore her products. Now I would like to introduce you to Melanie!

Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself?
A: Ah, where to begin! Well first and foremost, I am a full time doctoral student living in Southern California, studying to be a clinical psychologist, which takes up most of my time. However, I am also the owner and creator of FemmeDeBloom on Etsy which is something that is very important to me! Other than that, I am a huge Disneyland nerd and try to go as much as possible! I also love vintage/thrift shopping, Star Wars, the Beatles, animals, and playing the piano!
Q: How did you get started with your business?
A: It all started with these handmade ornaments I made for my friends three years ago that were personalized and Minnie Mouse themed. They loved them so much and encouraged me to try to sell them. So I kept that in mind and decided to try opening an Etsy shop the following year to sell them, and ended up selling 500 of them! It was insane but so much fun! So after Christmas was over I decided to start making jewelry and accessories to continue with the shop!
Q: What has been most rewarding about owning your business?
A: I think I have two: meeting new people and getting to express my creativity! I’ve met so many amazing people online and in real life through Instagram and the shop and its been so great to connect with other crafty people! I feel like the shop has opened up opportunities like this that I never would have had if I didn’t have the shop! Also, using and expressing my creativity has always been an important part of my life and now that I have the shop I have an outlet to express myself on a regular basis, which is amazing!
Q: What is your favorite part of making your products?
A: I think my favorite part is getting to share them with others because I truly value the feedback I get from people! I’ve gotten so many ideas based on custom orders because people are seriously brilliant! It’s also just a great way for me to relax! Making pieces for the shop is a stress reliever for me!
Q: When not making awesome jewelry, how do you spend your time?
A: Well, as I stated before I go to Disneyland a lot since I have an annual pass! Other than that, I try to spend as much time as I can with my family, my boyfriend, and my friends. I’m a huge movie buff and I have a bad habit of binge watching TV shows! I really enjoy live music and playing the piano when I can! I also spend as much time as I can with my Dog, Oliver, and my Cat, Delilah, because they are the best pets ever!
Q: What is your favorite dessert?
A: Ah…dessert. Dessert is my favorite dessert! Just kidding. Kind of, ha ha! I love all dessert to be honest and don’t discriminate. However, if I had to pick a favorite it would be a tie between cheesecake and macarons!
I loved learning more about Melanie! She is a super rad chick and I love supporting her business. Here are just a few products you can find on her store!

Bantam Businesses: Small But Mighty

Bantam Businesses-01

Hello Lovelies!

I am starting a new monthly feature here on Cutie Cameras! I know, so many new things!! First let me tell you that I LOVE supporting small businesses. It makes the items I buy so much more special.

With that said, I am going to start sharing some of my favorite small businesses. Some will be Etsy owners and some will be shops that have online stores. All will be awesome!! I call this feature Bantam Businesses because Bantam is defined as: a person of diminutive stature and often combative disposition. To me that means they are small but mighty, just like these amazing small businesses.

If you know of any super cool shops that I should feature, let me know! OR, if you have your own small business, let me know so I can share it! Shoot me an email cutiecameras{at}

Get ready to learn about some amazing shops and the wonderful people that run them!! The first feature starts next week!

Rediscovering a beautiful dress

Hello Lovelies,

Today my outfit features a dress that sat in my closet for far too long. The poor thing barely saw the light of day. It was a true travesty. That is why I decided to dust the adorable thing off and bring it back into the world!

Outfit 2I paired it with some light grey tights, brown booties, and my pastel purse from asos for a little pop. The weather is continuously heating up so the light colors match the changing season.

Outfit 1

I love wearing this dress to work because it is a nice, lightweight fabric which helps me control my temperature throughout the work day.

Do you have any clothes that you recently rediscovered?
