Book Review of “Inside Out” – A Guide To Body Positivity

Hello Lovely!

I hope you are having a spectacular day!! Today I want to share a book I recently read titled, “Inside Out,” written by the wonderful, Anastasia Amour. Anastasia is a huge advocate for body positivity and her new book is a testament to that passion.

Headshot 3 - Anastasia Amour

Anastasia describes herself as, “the go-to source for women around the world wanting to stamp out self-inflicted negativity & embrace Fearless Body Confidence.” I agree. From her blog, to her social media sites, and now her book, she is a body positivity force to be reckoned with.

The book walks you through different exercises to help you learn to throw out the negative feelings you have towards your body and replace them with love and positive thoughts. Each exercise gets you closer to accepting and loving your body. I’d say that is pretty darn awesome.Inside Out by Anastasia Amour-VIP-Reviewers-Blog-Posts-Image2

I like to think that I have a fairly positive view of my body but I will admit that reading through, “Inside Out” helped me realize that I still hold some negative views of my body that I need to work on. Although I work hard at loving and appreciating my body I’ve noticed that I still hold on to the insecurities that have been instilled in me since I was little: I am too fat for a crop top, I should stay away from a bikini, I should wear dresses that hide my tummy. These thoughts are so engrained in me that I don’t even notice anymore. That just isn’t cool. By recognizing these poisonous thoughts I can learn, with help from a few of Anastasia’s exercises, to change those negatives into self love and embrace Fearless Body Confidence.

We all have the power to change the way we view our bodies. You are beautiful and deserve love, respect, and every good thing in this world. You got this!

This book is awesome and I definitely recommend you checking it out. Even me, a person that totally thought she had this body positivity thing down learned from it and I know it helped me recognize and understand my own insecurities.

30-Day Guide to Bolder Blogging Review

Hello Lovely!

The wonderful Stephanie Shar of The Loudmouth Lifestyle allowed me to check out her new workbook, 30-Day Guide to Bolder Blogging. Stephanie helps women “wantrepreneurs” leave their jobs and start creative, service-based internet businesses. Her mission is to help you achieve goals online so that you can find fulfillment + freedom offline.  She focuses on motivating fierce females to blog boldly, live fully, and love themselves more through e-books, e-courses, coaching and community.

Stephanie Shar

I always enjoy reading blogger workbooks, e-courses and the like. I figure there is always room for improvement. So, when I saw the opportunity to check out Stephanie’s guide I jumped at it! Let me tell you that I am so glad I did!! It was not only informative but entertaining. Her voice really shines through and her humor made me feel like I was chatting with a friend (even though it wasn’t really chatting but more like reading a letter from a friend).

The 30-Day Guide to Bolder Blogging_Page_01

Stephanie’s guide offers tips on improving your about page, connecting with your audience and with fellow bloggers, and much more! She really incorporated a lot of content into a jam packed 30-day course. Like some people, I tend to get REALLY excited with workbooks and go hard then I start to taper off. I am happy to say that didn’t happen with this one! Yay! I stuck with it and got all the way through. I had to move a little quicker than I would like to ensure I got a review up in time, but I took a ton of notes and plan on re-visiting it to complete some of the more involved tasks that I skipped.

Stephanie definitely knows what she is talking about. I loved her casual yet professional writing style and the content was really helpful. I definitely think you should check out Stephanie’s blog, her e-courses and all of her other amazing content.

Why you don’t need to see “Jurassic World” in theaters

Jurassic-World

click for image source

Hello you awesome person you!

I care about you which is why I feel I need to warn you about Jurassic World. If you want to see a good movie go see Inside Out and skip Jurassic World. It can wait for Red Box. I recently went to see Jurassic World on the big screen and let me tell you, not the best thing I’ve see so far this year. The story was alright, the dialogue okay, and visually didn’t meet the awe-inspiring experience of its predecessor, Jurassic Park. Here are a few of the small details that really frustrated me about the movie (warning: there are a few spoilers).

Here is the basic plot. Claire works for the park at a higher level position. When Owen, the velociraptor trainer, goes to visit their latest dinosaur creation, they find the dino missing from it’s cage. Of course Claire’s nephews, Gray and Zach, just happen to be visiting during this time and when everything goes to hell they are out in the midst of the action.

Detail related issues that make me annoyed:

  • Gray never wound his Diana mini camera. It is a film camera and he just keeps snapping away like some digital thing!
  • Claire started with straight hair in the morning and it some how became beautifully wavy after the excitement occurs.
  • Claire ran through the grass and mud and somehow managed to keep her nude shoes clean and intact.
  • Claire managed to run super fast, faster than a T-Rex, in those same nude high heels.
  • The biggest problem I have is that they built the park even though they knew they shouldn’t mess with dinosaurs. We should learn from past mistakes instead of allowing tons of people to die from freakin’ dinosaurs!
  • Lastly, and the biggest spoiler, the mosasaur in the giant water tank breaks over the barrier of its enclosure to eat the scary, bad dinosaur. If it could break the barrier, why wouldn’t it have broken it sooner to eat humans?

Overall I give this movie a big shoulder shrug. This is a big dinosaur movie that falls a bit flat on the story and dialogue. It isn’t terrible but it isn’t great either.

So there you have it. My thoughts about Jurassic World. Did you see the movie? If you did, what did you think?

Cookie Cuteness from New York

Hello Lovely!

Today I want to tell you about some yummy macarons!! The Macaron Cafe reached out to me and offered to send a few of their macarons to me, and I never say no to macarons. So, they arrived a few days later and I couldn’t wait to dive into them. I was worried that they wouldn’t make the journey. Macaron Cafe is located in New York and I wasn’t sure how they were going to ensure their safe arrival. Upon opening up the shipping box I learned that I  had nothing to worry about. They were packaged with several cold packs to make sure they didn’t melt. I pulled out the adorable box you see below and instantly became giddy.

Macaron Cafe Box I mean, look at the adorable box! I opened up the Macaron Cafe box and was even more excited to find some adorable macarons.

Macaron Cafe macaronsOne of the macarons has sprinkles! WHAT?! That is amazing! I describe them as cute and scrumptious (two of my favorite things)!

MacaronsI seriously couldn’t wait to eat one. I carefully analyzed the set (not really) and chomped down!!

YUM!

They are so good! Not only did they travel across the country but they maintained their adorableness and delicious taste. Fletch said these were his favorite macarons yet (Bold statement, I know).

Overall I would say that these macarons from Macaron Cafe were amazing! I give them two thumbs up! If you are ever in New York or have a hankering for macarons I definitely suggest checking them out. After you do, be sure to send me a photo of you enjoying them.

What is your favorite macaron flavor?
