Why you need to see Selma

Fletch and I went to see Selma opening weekend. In the simplest terms it was incredible. The movie was inspiring, heartbreaking, moving, and all around eye-opening.

Watching Selma reminded me of our troubled past. It made me think of the injustice that still occurs today that so many people are continuously fighting for. It broke my heart to see how empty the theater was opening weekend for Selma. Crowds were pouring into Taken 3 and The Hobbit yet the theater for Selma was less than halfway full.

I don’t care what responsibilities you have or what your excuses might be. You need to see this movie. It will help you understand the sacrifices that those before us experienced in order for us to enjoy the rights we have today. The fact that protesters entered into demonstrations understanding that they might lose their lives, wow. That is true sacrifice. They understood how important equality is that they were willing to lose their lives for the common good.

So please, go see it. If it is no longer being shown at your local theater then plan to pick it up when it is released on DVD. Just trust me on this one.

Did you see Selma? What was your response to the movie?

My favorite holiday movie: Elf

Hello Lovelies and Merry Christmas!!!

In honor of the holiday I decided to share my favorite holiday movie; Elf! I love Will Ferrell and I really enjoy seeing him in a role where he isn’t being obscene and stripping naked. He is basically a giant child in Elf and I stinking love that!

you sit on throne of liesBy now you should have seen Elf but just in case, I will fill you in. Buddy happened to crawl into Santa’s giant red bag when he had visited an orphanage. Santa, being the baby lover that he is, decides that Buddy the baby should stay at the North Pole and be raised by an older elf who had always wanted children. Buddy finally realizes that he is a human when he is around 30 and decides to go off to New York to meet his father. We follow Buddy on his journey to New York City to build a relationship with his long lost father. This movie is touching, hilarious, and filled with holiday spirit!

Today after the presents have been opened and the food has been consumed I recommend you sit down with your loved ones and watch this movie. Remember the joy of being a kid and try to tap into that innocence a little more.

Happy Holidays everyone. Be safe and give lots of snuggles to those you care about.

Why I believe you should watch Pushing Daisies

Pushing Daisies

Pushing Daisies first aired in 2007 and ran until 2009. The show focused on Ned (Lee Pace) and Chuck (Anna Friel). Ned is a pie-maker and Chuck is his childhood sweetheart whom Ned brings back to life. Oh, did I forget to mention he can bring people back to life? Yup. Pretty crazy. With one touch he brings people back to life and with a second touch they die. Ned uses this talent to help a local private investigator solve murders. The show follows Ned through pie-making and crime solving as he attempts to figure out his overly complicated relationship with Chuck.

One of the many reasons I love this show is because it is very unique and unlike most shows currently, or previously, on television. It is different, fun and all around wonderful. The love story between Ned and Chuck is adorably frustrating. Their relationship develops and as they get closer emotionally they must remain physically distant. How awful would that be? I am a hugger so I know I wouldn’t last too long.

If you are looking for a unique show I definitely recommend Pushing Daisies. Check it out and tell me what you think.

My top 10 favorite online stores

top 10 fave online stores

Hello Lovelies,

I do a lot of online shopping, it is kind of my weakness, so I thought I would share a few of my favorite online sites with you! Also, if you have any last minute Christmas shopping to do then maybe you will find some good stuff at one of these sites!

My top 10 online shops!

  1. ModCloth
  2. ASOS
  3. Miss Patina
  4. Etsy
  5. Bait Footwear
  6. Fab
  7. Sugarhill Boutique
  8. OASAP
  9. Her Universe
  10. Look Human

1. ModCloth
I LOVE ModCloth. Most of my closet is made up of purchases from this site. They have mostly vintage style clothing, all cute. I bet you will find at least one thing you like and when you do be sure to tell me! I’ve done several posts about my love for ModCloth, you can read them here, here, here, and here.

This store is wonderful! They have so many cute clothes and adorable accessories! I have several of their purses and love every one of them! You can read more about my ASOS love here and here.

3. Miss Patina
I wish I had a TON of money because I would spend it at this store. Their dresses are adorable and so unique! I hope to add a few to my closet sometime soon.

4. Etsy
This is my go-to store for unique gifts and fun stuff for myself. I LOVE Etsy and all of the unique stores on there.

5. B.a.i.t. Footwear
Are you a vintage lover and shoe collector? Well then you HAVE to check out B.a.i.t. Their shoes are seriously adorable and have the perfect vintage feel. I have a few pairs and always get compliments when I wear them out in the world. Here is a pair I shared that I bought for my wedding.

6. Fab
This recent discovery but they have so many cool things that I felt compelled to share! They have tech stuff, jewelry, art prints, and everything else you can think of. I definitely recommend browsing the site and seeing what you can find. I really want this!

7. Sugarhill Boutique
This is an adorable store located in the UK. I’ve bought a dress and sweater from this store and absolutely love both. The dress is covered in vintage cameras, so you know I HAD to get it, and the sweater is a simple pull over with a cute collar that I bought for work. I can’t afford most items in this store so I make sure to check the sale section for good deals.

I found OASAP when I spotted a fellow blogger wearing a super cute dress from the store. I then fell in love! The only downside to this site is the fact that I have to size up which kind of sucks. They don’t have all of their clothes in larger sizes so I can only buy a small section of stuff but everything I’ve received has been awesome so far.

9. Her Universe
Are you a fangirl in anyway? Welp, you may be able to find something super cool on this site. They have awesome clothes for fangirls. I adore their Doctor Who stuff. It is so cute and if I had more money (which seems to be a trend here) I’d buy more.

10. Look Human
Are you a feminist, nerd or fangirl? If you answered yes to any of those labels then you need to take a peak at this site! I would buy everything from this store if it would fit in my closet. Their stuff is so cute and creative! You will have to check it out to get an idea of what I mean. I spent over an hour looking through the site the other night and I loved every minute of it.

I hope you find something you like and be sure to share if you decide to make any purchases! Do you have a favorite online shop that takes too much of your money? Let me know! I love finding new shops.

Gilmore Girls and lazy days

I am not sure when it happened but Gilmore Girls was put on Netflix and I have spent the last few weeks re-watching the entire series. It has been a total time suck and I’ve loved every minute!

Gilmore Girls

from gurl.com

Lorelai and Rory’s relationship is very unique and I love their witty banter. I also enjoy the relationship between Luke and Lorelai. I guess I should go ahead and explain the show.

Alright here goes. Lorelai grew up in a wealthy family where she never felt like she fit in. As a teenager she got pregnant and had her daughter, Rory. After having Rory, Lorelai moved to the small town of Stars Hallow where she worked at an inn and raised Rory all on her own. The show follows this mother-daughter duo through all of their crazy antics. It is one of my favorite shows and is perfect to have on while blogging.

It is funny, witty, and the fast dialogue allows for a ton of pop-culture references and jokes, which I always appreciate. If you need a fun show to watch while sitting at home, drinking tea, then I suggest Gilmore Girls.

Also, I should try this super fun looking Gilmore Girls drinking game the next time I have a group to watch the show with. Interested?
