Sakura-Con 2016 Recap

Hi Lovely!

Over the weekend I attended, for the first time ever, Sakura-Con. Sakura-Con is an anime convention that features awesome panels, gaming, anime theater, dances, exhibits, and so much more! I totally understand why this convention is three days long. You need that long to take it all in!

Attending Sakura-Con, I tried something pretty out of character: doing something alone. I had applied for a press pass a few months ago not really thinking much of it. I honestly didn’t expect to get one. Then I received an email stating I was approved and I was beside myself. I couldn’t believe it! Next was the hard decision. Do I attend the con alone, since I have no one to go with, or do I suck it up and go because it will be a good experience. Well, have some convincing from my husband, Fletch, I decided to go.

As I said, this was my first time attending and I was all alone. It was a little scary. I was only able to go for a few hours and I spent that time walking around in the exhibit hall. I love looking at all of the art and goodies that you can buy. While adventuring about I saw a ton of cute stuff and a lot of really cool cosplays.

I found a ton of cute stuff and chatted with lots of really awesome shop owners! Everyone was so nice and really made me feel welcome. I didn’t once feel like I was being judged or that I was weird for going alone. When you’re already nervous about doing something alone it helps to know other people aren’t looking at you funny so, that was a plus.

Thousand Skies Booth

I stopped by Elda’s booth! This was our first time meeting in real life and I must say she is as awesome in person as she is online.

The Tasty Peach Studios booth was too cute!!! I found out they will be at Emerald City Comicon so I will definitely be checking them out there too!

Some cute things I found. I wanted all of those socks and stuffed animals!

Overall I’d say I really enjoyed this convention. I love that it is an open and welcoming environment where you can be whatever you want to be. If I get a chance to go next year I definitely want to go for the full three days and bring along a buddy. I’d maybe even dress up, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.

Now to what you’ve been waiting for. Here are the adorable items I bought while at Sakura-Con!!! I now wish I had purchased even more so I guess I’ll have to budget more for next year’s con (oh shucks!)

  1. The Gorgonist prints are awesome and I LOVE the lanyard from Tasty Peach Studios! Hugely awesome. I do love my lanyards, then you go and add narwhals AND ice-cream, I mean… it’s all over hahaha.

  2. Oh man, I hate going to things alone too! I’m so proud of you for doing it anyway; it looks like so much fun! Even if Sakura-Con wouldn’t really be my “thing”, it just looks like fun.

Also. Make more videos because you are adorable.

Leave some love!
